Early Literacy Babysitter for Toddler

We are a UVA faculty family in Charlottesville, VA seeking a thoughtful and energetic student to work one-on-one with our toddler on early reading and literacy. This role involves engaging our book-loving toddler, who enjoys stories, nature, and mythology, in focused early-literacy activities to support their reading trajectory. We’re looking for someone who loves young children and combines warmth with patience, structure, and playfulness. This position requires approximately 90 minutes per late afternoon, ideally 3-5 weekdays per week, between 3:30pm and 6pm. The starting pay is $38/hour with bonuses for excellent performance. The job will take place in our private family home near UVA Grounds, with the start date flexible, ideally within the next two weeks or early September. Experience with toddlers, children, and pedagogy are beneficial but not required—energy, enthusiasm, and a love for children are a must. Our newborns' caregiver and mom, who works from home, will be present during sessions.
